For me better map cycle was with bremen/frostbite/base. :P

For me not, Caen, Beach and Venice are great maps specially if the server is full it's better to play on huge maps instead of small maps like base or bremen.

I agree with Ogniwan. Too much changes, both in the server settings and the map list in too short a time. Hirntot survived the battle of the fittest and for me there are two ingredients which kept our beloved community alive for such a long time.

1) Stock maps
2) Objective play

With the new maps we got a new influx of players to the server which is good but they also brought an attitude of 'fuck obj, ill just sit on the goldrush bridge and camp. Although this was in issue in the past it has become even worse. Adding competition maps also draws in a crowd of people who used to play Efterlyst / Bio / whatever those no time no obj servers were called. But there is a reason those servers all died: ET without obj is bloody boring.

I'd like to see a slower pace of map changes and to be frank, I'd rather go back to 6 stock maps + frostbite and maybe one map to rotate with crap like Caen etc which some people seem to like but those weren't the maps that kept our server alive through all those years.

edit: while complaining about having too much changes, I suggest a couple small ones:
* rate 40000 used to be allowed it got removed after the server crash. Big pubs benefit from higher rate, I get lot more yellow spikes at 25K rate
* cg_gun_frame used to be forbidden because the guy who had a big influence on the hirntot config thought it had an effect on accuracy, all it does is stop the gun frame from vibrating when you shoot. I'm not sure if it is still forbidden, I could check it out but it causes a lot of client crashes when setting it up and with the current queue its harder to check. I'll do so tonight after ppl are done playing :) I remember cg_gun_frame being allowed on the Christmis Bash config and I'm sure it only got removed circa 2010 after I told Dave the admin of nexus of it's existence.
* clanbase config used to have a 5% increase in rifle charge needed to shoot a rifle nade. This prevents rifles from shooting two rifles in short succesion. The 5% increase allows for a gap to actually kill the rifle instead of encouraging the rifle nade +back strategy. It's a small tweak, but a good one for sure.

AFAIK ET only allows rate up to 25000, anything over doesn't do anything at all and is just placebo.

cg_gun_frame shouldn't be forbidden, I agree, it's currently EQ 0 in the config.

Good idea with the riflenade, I'll pass it on. Edit: what's the server command for that? Increasing g_engineerchargetime doesn't affect it.

looking over the global 6vs6 config, it might be in the lua scripts. I'll have a look as long as I'm in the queue :)
