[Challenge] Bender's shiny metal ass

Post by a domestic cat » Fri Apr 26, 2019 6:49 pm

We are pleased to announce Hirntot's one week challenge! To make the gameplay more interesting and especially more fun, we've decided to introduce a small competition. Medics are gonna revive teammates, engineers plant and defuse dynamites while everybody will keep fraggin'! There are rewards for winners, you simply can't miss this!

What?

To win the challenge, you have to:
  1. plant or defuse dynamites,
  2. and revive teammates,
  3. and keep your K/D ratio as high as you can.
Don't forget about [!!!]Hirntot no HW, your score will skyrocket by playing on both servers!

When?

Start: 4th May 2019, 06:00 CEST
End: 11th May 2019, 06:00 CEST

Winners will be announced here on our forums during 12th May after collecting results.

Where?
  • [!!!]Hirntot, 9 Map

    Code: Select all

    et.hirntot.org:27960
  • [!!!]Hirntot no HW

    Code: Select all

    et2.hirntot.org:27960
Prizes
  1. Bender's shiny metal ass lid with our tag, not used! But seriously now, it's a polished silicon wafer, a nice souvenir from our beloved leader Harlekin! Also, you'll be able to join a team any time, no queue for you for two months!
  2. Instant team join - excluded from queue for 1 month.
  3. Priority team join - for 1 month, you are gonna drive others crazy by overtaking them in queue.

Rules
  • There must be at least 5 more players present, that is, 3vs3 or more.
  • No intentional teamkilling for getting a chance to revive. TK + revive is fine, just don't overdo it.
  • Only objective dynamite plants and only enemy objective dynamite defuses are counted.
  • In general, no abusing is tolerated. You might be disqualified or otherwise penalized.
  • One GUID = one player.
Score

Each player score is roughly computed by multiplying following values:
  • dynamites planted or defused on [!!!]Hirntot, 9 Map,
  • dynamites planted or defused on [!!!]Hirntot no HW,
  • revives on [!!!]Hirntot, 9 Map,
  • revives on [!!!]Hirntot no HW,
  • K/D ratio from both servers.
Again, in order to win, you have to plant or defuse dynamites, revive teammates and kill enemies on both servers, as much as you can. K/D ratio isn't that significant, but keeping it nice is an advantage. Rambo medics aren't going to win. Just make yourself useful.

Is it based on some sort of average, or is it whoever have the most dynas planted/defused or heals who are likely to win?

It's simply a sum - all revives, all plants + defuses, somewhat multiplied between each other. That means that you could revive thousands, but with no or almost no dynamites planted/defused, you most likely won't score higher than a player who was both planting/defusing and reviving in moderate. In other words, the point is to maximize all those values:
  • revives on Hirntot
  • revives on No HW
  • plants + defuses on Hirntot
  • plants + defuses on No HW
  • K/D ratio (that is, kills from both servers divided by deaths from both servers)
Note that you can plant or defuse, it's not necessary (and possible) to do both.

Also note that switching to spectator and back to the team (as some do that) has no effect. Everything counts, you can disconnect or switch teams during map without harming your score.

Let me know if there's anything else unclear.

Well, now that the Bender challenge ran and succeeded,

maybe why not doing another challenge for actually rewarding objective play and objective teamplay? I had quite an unnerving experience yesterday when I was the single allied Engineer throughout an otherworldly axis-dominated fueldump map. I screamed my lungs out for another engie or just simple backup, but not a single one of our dear nurses found it necessary to do convoy escort.
I know that this is not technically solvable, but maybe might be worth a thought if some admins at predefined times spec the average teamplay? Just a thought to improve the general teamplay, especially on the attacking side.
Cheers, Y0shi

Cheers, Y0shi
